Choose your document or exam"Invalid dimensions" means the portal checked your photo's exact pixel width and height — not just the file size — and your file didn't match. A correctly-sized-in-KB photo can still fail this specific check.
Why this is different from a file-size error
File size (KB) and pixel dimensions (width × height in pixels) are two separate checks, and portals often validate both independently. A photo can be well within the KB range and still get "invalid dimensions" because its width or height in pixels doesn't match what's required — for example, a 300×300 px photo uploaded where 200×230 px is required.
The three ways this happens
- Wrong aspect ratio. A square photo uploaded where a rectangular one is required (or the reverse) — cropping fixes this, resizing alone doesn't.
- Right ratio, wrong absolute size. A correctly shaped photo that's simply the wrong pixel count — some portals check for an exact match, not just a ratio.
- A resize that stretched instead of cropped. Forcing an image to fit a target pixel size without cropping first distorts the proportions, which some portals detect and reject even if the raw pixel count looks right.
Fix it
- Identify the exact required pixel dimensions and ratio from the notification.
